Every day between 10a.m. & 6p.m. (5 p.m. on Sunday) your group can observe craftsmen and craftswomen working with a variety of materials. See how a chainsaw carver quickly turns a log into a masterpiece. Watch as the skilled hands of artists paint on feathers, wood, pottery and just about anything you can imagine. Potters, jewelers, basket weavers and many more will fill more than 200 booths over this 2 week period and it would be an excellent opportunity for your group to see these folks in action.

The Southeast Tourism Society ranks this event in the top 20 for the entire southeastern region. The artisans are very skilled and among the best in the USA at what they do. At only $6 a ticket it’s an affordable option for your youth group to consider if planning a visit to the area during the 2012 Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival 2012.

Continue reading »]]> If your youth group has Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg or Sevierville as one of your upcoming Smoky Mountain destinations then you should consider taking a Pigeon Forge zip line canopy tour. Perched atop Legacy Mountain you will now find Adventure Ziplines of Pigeon Forge, now among the list of having one of the longest zip lines in the world at 3,400 feet.
With a total of 6 lines, 3 of which are over 2,000 feet, this is truly a place for those thrill-seekers out there. Soaring at speeds up to 45 MPH at heights of 300 feet in the sky you will remember your time spent here for years to come.

Continue reading »]]> It’s always a good thing to have new Pigeon Forge attractions for youth groups to visit. A couple of the most recent additions to this area include the Hollywood Wax Museum as well as a very picturesque Pigeon Forge zip line canopy tour.
You can’t miss the new wax museum as it’s right on the Dolly Parton Parkway near traffic light #1. When you see the legendary King Kong climbing a building that’s the place! Inside you’ll find an assortment of stars from Hollywood movies, TV series and more. If you would like more info take a look at their website here or give them a call at 865-428-5228.
The other attraction mentioned above is the latest zip line to come on the scene. It looks extremely enticing and would be an exciting destination for any youth group. The views of the Great Smoky Mountains look spectacular from what I can tell in the images I’ve seen and since they have a backup cable it looks safe as well.

Continue reading »]]> This is the 22nd annual Patriot Festival and it seems to just get better every year! It all starts at noon for the little ones with a free kids carnival and doesn’t stop until the last explosion lights up the night sky over Pigeon Forge! Below is a picture you can click on to print out a map and some coupons to bring with you to make the 4th the best it can be!

You will be entertained by The Lovin’ Spoonful, John Anderson and many more and there will be food vendors available so mom can take the entire day off and just enjoy the fun!

Continue reading »]]> It’s sometimes difficult to come up with new and interesting ways to entertain and keep your youth group active.  One possibility might be spending a day at one of the longest zip lines in the world. A brand new zip line canopy tour has launched and now becomes just one of many new Pigeon Forge attractions!

Adventure Zip Lines of Pigeon Forge is located at 2820 Legacy Vista Drive right off of Upper Middle Creek road and offers the rider some exquisite views of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Developers were careful in construction of this 6 line tour to make as little impact as possible. This is truly a wonderful canopy tour that all zip line enthusiasts and beginners alike can appreciate.

One of the six lines at Adventure ziplines of Pigeon Forge is over 3,400 feet long! That equals the zip line  in Hawaii called the “The Kapohokine” as well as  the “Turu Ba Ri” in Costa Rica. There are a couple longer lines, one being in Alaska and the other in South Africa.

Continue reading »]]> Not much too exciting going on for youth groups visiting Pigeon Forge this Labor Day weekend but I have a few ideas I’d like to throw out as suggestions.

We all need to save money when and where we can in this day and age so that’s reason enough to visit this weekend. We have at least two large retailers offering deals and discounts in Pigeon Forge over this holiday weekend. Belz Mall will be having a large sidewalk sale like they do every year at this time and The Christmas Place will be putting up their huge tent where shoppers will be able to snatch up some early Christmas savings.

For something a bit more educational and entertaining, you might want to take your youth group over the mountain to Cherokee, N.C.  on Saturday the 3rd. It’s only a one day event but  think well worth the trip for any group interested in arts and crafts of any kind. The Cherokee are well known for their artistic abilities and your group can get a chance to see them in action at the Qualla Open Air Market. For those interested in going but needing more information please see below.

For a final idea to keep your youth group active in Pigeon Forge you might consider horseback riding in Gatlinburg. There is at least one riding stables around that I’m aware of that will try to work within your group’s budget. If I remember correctly the lady’s name is Cherie and she can be reached at 865-453-8644 and just let her know you have a group interested in hitting the trails. Gatlinburg horseback riding is the perfect activity for any group and an excellent way to see our beautiful east Tennessee countryside!

Continue reading »]]> If  your youth group is contemplating visiting the Great Smoky Mountains area, you might want to consider horseback riding.   Gatlinburg Tn. and the surrounding areas offer a pristine environment that will allow your group to get back to the natural wonder of the Great Smoky Mountains. It’s fresh air,  beauty and peacefulness can reinvigorate all the individuals within any group.

Many of the area Gatlinburg riding stables are well equipped to handle large groups and are more than happy to put together “package deals” to make riding horses more affordable for your members.

With an abundance of wildlife and breath-taking views, horseback riding in the Smokies is an especially,  perfect fit for photography groups!  With experienced trail guides leading the way, your members will be able to capture the frames they want without worrying about anything else.

There is one riding stables website I came across that actively seeks groups (they also offer ziplines).  Just  submit the form with a little info about when and how many will be coming and they will quote you an exact group price. If your group is tax-exempt, this will even save you more money. By just investigating a little bit, you might be surprised how cheaply a large group can explore the Smokies on horseback!

Continue reading »]]> After looking around a while I managed to find a new, exciting adventure available for youth groups in Pigeon Forge, Tn. Adventure Park at Five Oaks, on the Sevierville and Pigeon Forge city line, would be a great choice for groups looking into one place where members would have a choice of outdoor fun!
This park has always been a popular place for visitors to the area seeking horseback riding, but with their new addition of zip lines, it’s even more attractive for groups like yours! With tours leaving every 15 minutes on the zip lines and on the half hour for trail rides, there will be very little, if any, waiting for the fun to begin!
If your group is planning a trip to the Smokies, take a look at their Pigeon Forge zip line website for more details and to get a look at their gallery for an idea of what it might be like. From  what I understand, the complete zip line and trail riding tour is available for one low, “combo-package” price for each of your members and an even better group discount rate will apply if there are enough in your group!

For a great afternoon, I see this as a good place to consider for groups visiting Pigeon Forge! Come back soon as we will look into other options for Pigeon Forge attractions!
